I thought I had prepared myself for the upcoming two-year anniversaries: the last time Matt and I would see each other, followed by the anniversary of his transition into the spirit realm two weeks later. I thought the worst of the grieving was over around Christmastime, but another wave of grief and sorrow had surfaced, deeper and more intense this time, like a tsunami.

I had given myself permission to take time away from social media and computer technology to allow myself time to practice self-care and to honor my grieving process. I was grateful for the loving support of my longtime friend during this time of retreat and reflection. Although I felt my heart and soul were drowning in the tears of pain and sorrow, I was aware of the increased signs sent from Heaven during this time, including repeatedly hearing songs on the radio that were special to us and seeing hawks and 228 (his date of birth and date of transition).

I was still raw from this unexpected deep dive into my grieving process but wanted to do something special to celebrate Matt, his life, his memory, and his continued presence in my life. I realized I hadn’t had the chance to attend Ice Castles this year, which was how I honored him last year, checking an item off on our bucket list. When I finally checked my email, I was surprised to see an email announcing the final days of Ice Castles. I checked my calendar and saw that the only day I was able to attend was on Matt’s Circle of Life day.

While on the website preparing to order my tickets, I could barely believe my eyes! They were having sleigh rides this year, another item on Matt and my bucket list! Matt had helped me make his Circle of Life celebration extra special and extra magickal this year!
